If you follow me on instagram and snapchat then you might've seen clips of me reading to my family. I do it quite often as I believe it is so important to instill reading to our kids from birth. Call me crazy but I use to read to Jayleen, Hazel and James while pregnant with them. After birth I would do the same as this opens a window of curiosity and feeds their creativity.
I'm so excited to share with you that I've become an Explorer Academy Ambassador. I am among a select group chosen to receive an advanced copy of The Nebula Secret, the first book in the new Explorer Academy series. This is a thrilling new series of seven fact-based fiction books inspired by the real adventures and exploration of the National Geographic society.
This is all thanks to my friends at YouTube Kids in celebration of reading month. They sent me a sweet package for my daughters which included a copy of the book, a first-edition Explorer Academy pin and a few sneak peek copies for friends and family.
This is YouTube Kids third year of the Reading month program. It is a program that aims to unlock literacy for children around the world. The goal is to help kids explore the magic of the written word and read along with YouTube Kids.
This month they've added a few new aspects including Word of the day (this I'm really excited about because even tho I am an adult, who doesn't like learning new words?). This is specially great for kids around this time as they gear up for back to school.
Another super cool add-on is the celebrity read-a-long series. You'l find celebrities like Jimmy Fallon (who is my favorite comedian), Viola Davis, Kristen Bell as they read their favorite children's books.
Adventure, danger, and a thrilling global mission await 12-year-old Cruz Coronado as he leaves behind his home in Hawaii to attend the prestigious Explorer Academy, where he and 20 kids from around the globe will train to become the next generation of great explorers. But for Cruz, there's more at stake. No sooner has he arrived at the academy than he discovers that his family has a mysterious past with the organization that could jeopardize his future. In the midst of codebreaking and cool classes, new friends and amazing augmented reality expeditions, Cruz must tackle the biggest question of all: Who is out to get him... and why?
The book will be on sale: September 4th, 2018.
A portion of every sale supports the vital science, exploration, conservation and education work of the National Geographic Society.
