I'm so excited to be teaming up with Hampton by Hilton once again to share some great tips on traveling in style. On my recent trip to Orlando I learned how unprepared I was the entire time. I packed for 75 degree weather and the reality was far from it. It turned out to be over 90 degrees! Since I was only going to be there for two days and one night I only took two outfits (big big mistake!). This time out of all times I wish I had overpacked. Let's just say I was unprepared and the the scorching heat caught me by surprise.
-I packed-
1 linen top
1 pair of oversize trousers
1 pair of heels
1 long sleeve loose short dress
1 pair of sneakers
1 pair of casual flats
I planned to wear the trousers with the linen top and heels the first night I arrived for an intimate dinner with a group of friends. This wasn't such a great idea since there was a ton of walking that had to be done and flats would've been ideal. Also the long trousers were probably the worst thing I could've packed. The material wasn't the best in warm weather, I just don't know what I was thinking! I didn't only pack the wrong clothes I also packed the wrong beauty items!
Because I don't want you to go through the same thing I went threw I'm sharing what I should've brought instead.
-I should've packed-
2 cotton short sleeve tops
2 cotton short dresses
1 mid length skirt
1 pair of shorts
2 pair of sandals (one casual, open toe and one fancier, closed toe)
1 cardigan (just in case it gets chilly at night)
For beauty, it's best to travel with a bb or cc cream instead of a normal foundation. Think about it, light make up is ideal when visiting a warm place. You want to have very little makeup on when you're standing in the sun, trust me! If you follow me on snapchat (JohnnybellSan) then you know how drenched I was when I stood in the sun. My makeup melted, literally!
For makeup you only need bb/ cc cream or tinted moisturizer, concealer, mascara, eyebrow pencil, and a cheek & lip stain. Thats it! The best thing to do on your hair is a low bun. It's sophisticated and smart when it comes to dealing with the heat. I have super long hair and for the trip I brought my curling iron, hair brush and a ton of hair products thinking I could pull off sleek hair. I mean who was I kidding? Ladies, each Hampton by Hilton room has a hairdryer and believe me that's all you need (along with their free hot breakfast). The only thing I got right during my trip was the accessories. I brought a nice pair of stud earrings which were perfect for day and night. I hope my experience serves as a lesson to you all.
As you all know Summer is almost over and I encourage all of you to make the best of it. Travel! Explore places you've never seen.
