The only reason I’ve always styled my own hair and do my own makeup (even on special occasions) is simply because I don’t have the time to go out, schedule an appointment or wait for a stylist to attend me. I love doing things on my own time and that’s why I love PRIV.
If you’re not familiar with PRIV, it’s pretty much an app.
It’s a one-stop destination for all things beauty and wellness needs. I’ve used PRIV before at events and photo shoots but this was my first time actually booking the service through the app. I love that downloading the app is free, and all prices include tax and tip. PRIV is extremely popular in NY but it is also available in Los Angeles and London.
As I mentioned before, the app has a bunch of different services including haircuts, blowouts, nails, makeup, massage, fitness, men’s grooming, eyelash extensions, spray tans and more. You can also book more than one service at a time. The professionals come to your job or your home to provide these services, now that’s cool!
This time around I booked an appointment to get a haircut and a blowout. I’ve been meaning to cut my tips for quite some time but never gotten around to it. I was so happy that a professional was going to come to my home and get me beautified.
I booked the appointment on Friday (the day-of) and within a few minutes of booking I got an email from the PRIV concierge providing me with my appointment details and asking if they could do anything else to make my experience better. I’m a sucker for good customer service so was very excited for my appointment after this.
Initially my hairstylist arrived a little late. She apologized and turned out to be a sweetheart.
I had washed my hair before she came and was ready to get started. She began asking me the type of haircut and hairstyle I was looking for. After a few minutes of getting to know each other, she began cutting my hair and styling it. Since I knew I would be sitting there for awhile I took the opportunity to work on my laptop, write a few emails and catch up on the latest Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and Vogue trends. All while doing my hair at home by someone else!
It usually takes me around 2 hours to do my hair (from start to finish) on my own. I naturally try to avoid it 99.9% of the times but eventually end up doing it. As a (very) busy mom it’s (really) nice to get pampered in your own home, in your own time by an actual professionals. At the end Triana (my stylist) did a great job and I would book her again any day.
Let’s just say Friday was a very good day!
Wait until my mom finds out about this! She will become PRIV’s #1 customer, haha.
