Most of you have already seen my social media accounts and are aware of my recent trip to Warwick, NY.
Warwick is a town in the southwest part of Orange County, New York. With it being only 1 hour and 30 minutes away from the city, it is becoming very popular amongst our generation. Warwick is also known for its annual Applefest which bring hundreds of people together for lots of family fun.
Today I'm sharing part one of a three series of posts around my trip in Warwick. This post will be focusing on the importance of family fun in Mount Peter Ski and Snowboard Area.

Hola chicos! La mayoría de ustedes ya han visto mis cuentas de redes sociales y son conscientes de mi reciente viaje a Warwick, Nueva York.
Warwick es una ciudad en la parte suroeste del Condado de Orange, Nueva York. Con ser tan solo 1 hora y 30 minutos de la ciudad, se está volviendo muy popular entre nuestra generación. Warwick también es conocida por su Applefest anual que trae cientos de personas en torno para un montón de diversión en familia.
Hoy estoy compartiendo la primera parte de una serie de tres partes de mi viaje a Warwick. Esta entrada se centrará en la importancia de la diversión familiar en Mount Peter Ski and Snowboard Area.

Hola chicos! La mayoría de ustedes ya han visto mis cuentas de redes sociales y son conscientes de mi reciente viaje a Warwick, Nueva York.
Warwick es una ciudad en la parte suroeste del Condado de Orange, Nueva York. Con ser tan solo 1 hora y 30 minutos de la ciudad, se está volviendo muy popular entre nuestra generación. Warwick también es conocida por su Applefest anual que trae cientos de personas en torno para un montón de diversión en familia.
Hoy estoy compartiendo la primera parte de una serie de tres partes de mi viaje a Warwick. Esta entrada se centrará en la importancia de la diversión familiar en Mount Peter Ski and Snowboard Area.
The previous Friday, my brother and I left the city and began our short journey to Warwick NY. We wanted to spend a weekend of family fun with our two kids who rarely spend any time together (sadly) due to our distant homes. We rented a TV-free log home for a few days near Mount Peter and were thrilled to see how this turned out. In this generation kids can't live without TV or iPads to say the least. We knew this was going to be an interesting trip for all of us.
Mount Peter is a very well run family owned business since 1936. Carol, the marketing director, let me in on a few not so little secrets about the legendary place.
She revealed that Mount Peter was previously owned and started by Macy's. [thoughts in my head; like Macy's? the department store?] and before I could say anything she clarified that YES, it was previously owned by Macy's, the department store. They used the space to show off and sell their ski fashion. [of course! ... how silly would I be to think these large companies create fake snow and do all their shoots in a fashion district studio, right?]
Something that astonished me was the fact that Mount Peter is the oldest operating ski area in New York State, and one of the few remaining family operating ski areas in the country. I mean.. I visited Mount Peter to ski and maybe make some snow angels or something. I was so happy to leave with so much knowledge and a lot more than what I anticipated.

El viernes anterior, mi hermano y yo salimos de la ciudad y comenzamos nuestro viaje corto a Warwick NY. Queríamos pasar un fin de semana de diversión familiar con nuestros dos hijos que rara vez pasan tiempo juntos (por desgracia), debido a la distancia de nuestras casas. Alquilamos una casa de madera sin televisión por unos días cerca de Mount Peter y quedamos encantados del lugar. En esta generación los niños no pueden vivir sin televisión o iPads para decir lo menos. Sabíamos que esto iba a ser un viaje interesante para todos nosotros.
Mount Peter es un negocio familiar muy bien dirigido desde 1936. Carol, la directora de marketing, me dijo unos pequeños secretos sobre el legendario lugar.
Ella reveló que Mount Peter era propiedad y comenzó por Macy's previamente. Utilizaron el espacio para mostrar y vender su moda de esquí. [por supuesto!]
Algo que me sorprendió fue el hecho de que el Mount Peter es la zona más antigua de funcionamiento de esquí en el estado de Nueva York, y una de las pocas zonas de esquí de la familia operativo que quedan en el país. Visité Mount Peter para esquiar y sali con tanto conocimiento y mucho más de lo que esperaba.
Mount Peter focuses on teaching individuals the importance of learning how to ski. They don't just send you to throw yourself off the lift and 'good luck to ya'.. like others do. Mount Peter offers free beginners lessons on the weekends from 10am-12pm and at 2pm. This is something my daughter, Zareena and nephew Kiantony, loved. As first timers they were able to learn with other kids around in a very relaxed family friendly environment and simply have a blast.
The instructors at Mount Peter were thee best! The red jacketed personnel are the sweetest, most passionate, and the most patient individuals I have ever met. They also offer private lessons which are great as this makes it easy to learn at your own pace.

Mount Peter se centra en enseñar a las personas la importancia de aprender a esquiar. No sólo te mandan a lanzarte fuera del ascensor y 'buena suerte' .. como hacen otros. Mount Peter ofrece principiantes clases gratuitas los fines de semana de 10 am a 12pm y de 2pm. Esto es algo que mi hija, Zareena y sobrino Kiantony, amaron. Fueron capaces de aprender con otros niños alrededor en un ambiente familiar muy relajado y simplemente tener mucha diversion.
Los instructores en Mount Peter son los mejores! El personal con camisa de color rojo son los más dulces, más apasionados, y las personas más pacientes que he conocido. También ofrecen clases particulares, que son muy importante, ya que esto hace que sea fácil de aprender a su propio ritmo.
To give you a little insight on the area;
Mount Peter has such a friendly and convenient environment with a large parking lot, a food court, pub, gift shop, and a well equipped rental facility. As big as the area looks, everything is only a few steps away.
Ooh.. there's also an awesome bear with a hip tie dye shirt walking around the premises giving treats to the children. How thoughtful!

Para darles un poco de conocimiento de el área;
Mount Peter tiene un ambiente tan agradable y cómoda con un gran terreno de estacionamiento, un patio de comidas, bar, tienda de regalos y un servicio de alquiler bien equipado. Tan grande como la zona parece, todo está a sólo unos pasos de distancia.
Ohh .. también hay un oso impresionante caminando alrededor de la area regalado dulces a los niños.
Something that I was completely fluttered by is how close to NYC it is. Anyone can simply come for a day trip, have some family fun and go back home the same day. Not having to worry about all the hours you'll need to drive back. Anything near the city is always a + in my book.

Algo que me encanto es esta cerca de Nueva York. Cualquiera puede venir simplemente para un viaje de un día, tener un poco de diversión con la familia y volver a casa el mismo día. No tiene que preocuparse por todas las horas que necesita para conducir de vuelta.
