Fishkill, NY
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, then you know how much we travel. We love taking random drives everywhere. What can I say? We're spontaneous people:)
Just a few days ago we drove to Fishkill NY which is about 1 hour and 30 minutes away from NYC. We visited Cracker Barrel for the first time and it wasn't bad. I mean everything we ordered was fried, fried, fried. & you know anything fried is good, right! I'm happy to say I'm done with fried foods for the next 8 months. If you're not familiar with Cracker Barrel, its just a pit stop/ restaurant and gift shop all in one. If you're out road tripping and you spot a Cracker Barrel, you must stop. My girls went crazy with the selections of candy and unique toys in the shop.
Many of you recommended me to go blueberry picking, visit the museums and eat at certain restaurants. We were only there for a few hours but I will be sure to do that next time I visit.

Cracker Barrel specializes in being that 'Old country home away from home'. Everyone is soooo nice around the area. & our waitress Pegy was the sweetest lady in the world. She continued bringing out homemade biscuits and cornbread (which are endless). They also offer free refills on the drinks. I ordered the pink lemonade (it was Awesome!). I would drive back there just for that. As you can see, we ordered a bunch of items which at the end we couldn't finish it all. We got fried chicken (of course) with sweet potato and mac and cheese [the chicken was delicious. The mac and cheese was a little watered down and the sweet potato had brown sugar on top, was really good but tasted more like a dessert]. We also ordered the catfish (you have the option of grilled or fried) this came with your choice of 4 sides. French fries, corn, grits and hush puppies [the catfish was good but bland without the tartar sauce, the hush puppies were good as well, surprisingly no one paid attention to the fries or the grits]. & can I just say, they serve real butter! They also have games on the tables to play while eating. It is a very casual restaurant to say the least. The majority of people were wearing t-shirts and flip flops. A very relaxed atmosphere, compared to the city. Outside they had rocking chairs (which are for sale) and games of checkers to enjoy while resting after the filling meal. As far as the bill, I'll just say it was very very cheap!
