Goodbye June, Hello July!
One of my favorite Holidays is 4th of July & we're only a few days away from it. I've teamed up with Smirnoff Ice to bring a few ideas to your patriotic festivities. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of 4th of July is refreshments along with fresh fruits. There's just something about both elements together that simply go well. Staying refreshed during summer specially if you're having/attending a BBQ or a simple backyard get together is a must. These ideas will help you do just that.
-Fruit pops-
-NEED-
blueberries
strawberries
2 kiwis
Smirnoff Ice Original
white grape juice
Slice strawberries and kiwis. Add blueberries and the sliced fruits to the molds. Fill with Smirnoff Ice Original and white grape juice. Freeze for two/three hours and enjoy. Of course you can skip the kiwi if you want to keep the theme colors red, blue and white. I just thought it looked extra pretty with the kiwi:)
If you're making these for your kids you can skip the Smirnoff and only add white grape juice.
After having burgers and all that grilled goodness you also want to have dessert right? Well, these are a cute way to serve a favorite of mine 'tres leche'. You can make a plain cake or buy it from the store. I baked my own but if you decide to buy it, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to it for extra flavor. I cut circles (I certainly tried) with a knife or you can do this with a cookie cutter. Would've been cool to find a star cookie cutter. Well, maybe next time. After cutting the cakes I added condensed and evaporated milk. On top of that I added strawberries and blueberries (because I can't think of any other fruit that is red and blue). Topped it with another piece of the cake and flag toothpicks (which can be found at Walmart or your local 99 cent store here). Serve cold.

I hope this post was helpful! I had so much fun putting this together. & remember; Smirnoff Ice celebrates the absurdly awesome. I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July and enjoys their 3 day weekend. Drink responsibly.
Awesome post!
