I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday! This past month has been so hectic and I'm sure you've been aware of that by the lack of posts I've delivered, and I'm so sorry! I am feeing a lot more inspired and ready to put my 200% back at it. I hostly didn't realize how much I would miss writing and sharing my thoughts with you guys until I actually took some time off.
A few days ago my Mr. and I visited BareBurger for brunch. We often dine there because it's an organic and all natural restaurant that offers vegan, gluten free choices as well as his favorite food, burgers! My favorite item to order used to be the mexican salad but since then they've changed the menu and now they have this one called Guapo Chop, Yum so delicious!! This salad is filled with pico de gallo, guacamole, pickled onions, jalapeños and so much more deliciousness. For brunch they offered a different menu which I was surprised to see. I honestly didn't want to go with the same salad anyways, even though I live for it. I decided to indulge on chicken and waffles! I know, I simply couldn't help myself when I saw it on the menu! I absolutely loved this order so much that I asked the manager to add it on the regular menu. He laughed and said lets see. I mean, theres a possibility right?
I've always been a lover of all things savory, sweet and spicy and this dish has it all. Waffles, chicken, fruits, maple sirup, sweet potato fries and some type of banana fritters. I am telling you, it's heavy but isn't that what brunch is supposed to be? My order came with a drink and I chose a refreshing mimosa, of course.
Moe (my Mr.) wasn't a fan of the whole mix which made me very happy, you know, more for me:)

Growing up as a Dominican child meant visiting the Dominican republic annually, no exceptions. As I got older and my family expanded it became more difficult to continue this tradition. While growing up it was extremely important to attend our family reunions. Whether it meant traveling miles and miles to be with the ones I love during the Holidays or special occasions. To be quite honest, I've always looked for any reason to visit this beautiful country. There's something about the air, the food, the people and the culture that you cannot get anywhere else. I was born and raised in New York City. My parents are from the Dominican Republic and I have to say, DR will always feel like my home away from home.

Over the weekend my family and visited Battenfeld's Christmas tree farm in Hudson Valley in collaboration with Lexus. This was my family's first time cutting our own tree and getting the real, full Christmas experience. For this collaboration Lexus informed me that they would be making a donation to the Holiday Express charity based on the height of the tree we picked, so I made sure to get a big one:)
We hit the road around 1pm which was pretty late due to a bit of traffic getting out of the city. Our original plan was to leave the city at 9am to catch a few awesome entertainers at the tree farm such as Santa Clause, bagpipers and horse-drawn wagon rides. We were certain we missed all the fun but were still pretty enthusiastic about cutting down our own tree.

El fin de semana pasado mi familia y yo visitamos la granja de árboles de Navidad de Battenfeld en Hudson Valley. Esta fue la primera vez que mi familia y yo cortamos nuestro propio árbol y obtenimos la experiencia real de Navidad. Nos fuimos de camino a las 1pm, bastante tarde debido a un poco de tráfico para salir de la ciudad. Nuestro plan original era salir de la ciudad a las 9am para ver unos artistas impresionantes en la granja de árboles como Papá Noel, gaiteros y paseos en carro de caballos. Estábamos seguros de que nos perdimos toda la diversión, pero aún estábamos bastante entusiasmados por cortar nuestro propio árbol.
This past weekend was one of the rare ones. I had the opportunity to spend time with my mother and sister as well as with my adoptive family (my husband's family). It reminded me about the beauty of the Holidays. Which brings me to todays post, gift giving.
