Yesteryear

2013 was the golden year for me and for NY Trendy Moms (so far). This year I became a stronger and  more determined person. I came closer than ever to my mother and build a relationship we never had before. I reached my weight goal and continue to workout in order to live a healthier and better life. In 2013 I became prove that anything in life is possible as long as you believe it is. I want to thank each and every one of you for being the extra support I need when I'm feeling down. Honestly, your support/comments/feedback means the world to me. I hope you all had a great 2013 and a better start to your 2014. I'm sending blessings your way.

2013 fue el año de oro para mí y para mi blog (hasta ahora). Este año me convertí en una persona más fuerte y más decidida. Estoy mas cerca que nunca de mi madre y construimos una relación que nunca tuvimos antes. Llegué a mi meta de peso y continúo hacer ejercicio para vivir una vida más sana y mejor. En 2013 fui la demostracion que todo en la vida es posible siempre y cuando usted cree que es. Quiero agradecer a todos y cada uno de ustedes por ser el apoyo extra que necesito cuando me siento deprimida. Sinceramente, su apoyo y comentarios significa el mundo para mí. Casual Monday

It's pretty unbelievable that another year has gone by and we're very close to starting 2014. A new year means new opportunities, a chance to leave old habits behind and start fresh. Life is simple, only people complicate it. I hope you all have a great Monday.

Red + Black + White

Red, black and white is a trend that will always be in-style. The colors are bold and timeless. Perhaps one of my favorite color combinations this year. The red hat adds sassiness to the classy black and while look while the rings add edginess without being overpowering. We're getting close to 2014 and I couldn't be happier with all the achievements and obstacles I've overcome. There is so much more that goes behind being a blogger, mother, wife and daughter. This upcoming year I will continue to be the best person I can be. Floral + Tangerine Orange

Hello guys!!!! I'm so happy to be feeling 100% better now. I've been sick since last week; I had food poisoning. The past week has been terrifying for my family and I. Unable to eat or drink anything without barfing until yesterday. I was weak, dehydrated and in so much pain (almost as painful as labor). I couldn't figure out what I ate that got me sick. However, I am just happy it's over! Thank you for all who wished me a fast recovery on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

                                               

Hola chicos!! Estoy tan feliz de estar sintiendome 100% mejor. He estado enferma desde la semana pasada, tuve una intoxicación alimentaria. La semana pasada ha sido aterradora para mí y mi familia. Yo no podia comer ni beber nada sin vomitar hasta ayer. Yo estaba débil, deshidratada y en tanto dolor (casi tan doloroso como dar a luz). Yo no podía entender lo que comí que me intoxico. Sin embargo, estoy feliz de que finalmente se acabó y estoy mejor! Gracias por todo los lindos deseó que me mandaron en Instagram, Twitter y Facebook.

Camel in The City

These past few days have been excruciating for me but very rewarding at the end of the day. Helping mom plan her Christmas dinner, trying to put together our next family vacation, working on new projects for the blog, arranging our yearly boxes of toys for the Dominican Republic in celebration of  'El dia de los reyes', and so much more. I am just glad we're close to the end of this whole madness and at the end, all is done for the better.
In todays article, I'm bring you this beautiful Marc Jacobs double breasted coat that I got as a gift from my husband on my birthday. I love the fit and color, which goes with everything. I was in need of a new winter essential and I'm glad I got this to add to my winter collection.

Estos últimos días han sido insoportable para mí, pero muy gratificante al final del día. Planificando nuestras próximas vacaciones, trabajando en nuevos proyectos para el blog, organizando nuestras cajas anuales de juguetes para la República Dominicana en la celebración de 'El Día de los Reyes, y mucho más. Estoy contenta de que estamos cerca del final de toda esta locura.

HTC One Giveaway!!! + Review

Alright, the day has come. I have been using the HTC One phone for over two months now and can finally write a decent review on it. Although I have been a die-hard Apple fanatic since day one. I decided change is good, right? When I received the phone [I'll be honest] I did not know how to use it. I found it hard to set things like email accounts and alarms. This happens to everyone when trying new things specially when trying new smartphones. After using it for a couple of days, I started getting the hang of it and I loved it! There were so many things to do with with the phone that I found myself playing with the One for hours and by the end of the day I had no clue where my time went. I am crazy about the sleek design and sturdy feel, which fits perfectly in your hands. Now I'm going to tell you the pros and cons of the HTC One + how you can win this beautiful device.

Muy bien, ha llegado el día. He estado usando el telefono HTC One durante más de dos meses y por fin puedo escribir una opinión decente en él. Aunque he sido una fanática de Apple desde el primer día. Decidí que el cambio es bueno, ¿verdad? Cuando recibí el teléfono [Voy a ser honesta] Yo no sé cómo usarlo. Me pareció muy difícil de poner las cosas como las alarmas, cuentas de correo electrónico y aplicaciones. Esto le pasa a todo el mundo cuando se trata de cosas nuevas, especialmente cuando se trata de nuevos telefonos. Después de usarlo durante un par de días, empecé entenderlo mas y me encantó! Había muchas cosas que hacer con el teléfono que me encontré jugando con el por horas y para el final del día yo no tenía ni idea de dónde se fue mi tiempo. Me encanta el diseño elegante y la sensación robusto, que cabe perfectamente en tus manos. Ahora voy a decirle los pros y los contras del HTC One + cómo se puede ganar este hermoso telefono.

Let It Snow!

If you're not aware I love snow! Winter has always been my favorite time of year because I have many memories of my brother and I making snow angels and snowman's in front of our house while growing up. As a kid, my mother would bundle us up to the point where we could not move a finger. I believe that is a Dominican mothers tradition and goal. Now that I'm older I've realized what's comfortable and bundling up (like that) is not comfortable at all. Part of it is because I feel like I'm suffocating, do you ever feel that way? My husband thinks I'm a bit sick in the head because I don't usually get cold during times like these. Is it because I'm a Winter baby? Am I immune to cold? Either way, I think comfort comes first whether hot or cold. I know when you think of snow, you think of high boots or the original Ugg Australia boots right? For me it's about change and creating new trends. I cannot and will not live without heels and that's why I decided to wear these shoes. I love the unique design and cozy comfort in the inside of the shoe. I rolled up the bottom of these Silver Jeans to really see the detail in the shoes. You can add socks if you'd like:) In today's article I put together a look that would be of my comfort and standout against the white fluffy snow. Hope you like it.

Si usted no está enterado a mi me encanta la nieve! Invierno siempre ha sido mi época favorita del año porque tengo muchos recuerdos de mi hermano y yo haciendo ángeles de nieve en frente de nuestra casa mientras crecía. Cuando era niña, mi madre nos ponia tantas cosas (suéteres, gorros) hasta el punto de que no podíamos mover un dedo. Creo que es la tradición y la meta de una madre dominicana. Ahora que soy mayor me he dado cuenta de lo que es cómodo y abrigarse (así) no es cómodo para nada. Parte de esto se debe a que me siento como que estoy ahogandome, ¿alguna vez sientes así? Mi esposo piensa que estoy un poco mal de la cabeza, porque yo no me da frío en momentos como estos. ¿Es porque soy un bebé de invierno? ¿Soy inmune al frío? De cualquier manera, creo que la comodidad es lo primero sea frío o caliente. En el artículo de hoy armé un traje que sería de mi comodidad y que me destaca contra la nieve blanca. Espero que les guste.

Beauty Segment on The Couch for CBS

Yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing two of my favorite Celebrity makeup artists, Ashunta and Shanelle. I met these two during my shoot with Cosmo For Latinas last month and we bonded instantly. When Ashunta contacted me asking if I was interested in being one of her models for a Holiday beauty segment on The Couch for CBS, I said yes! I styled my own Holiday party/datenight look. I went with a bold cobalt blue dress from Baukjen and complemented the dress with a statement pearl necklace (which I have been wearing often). Shanelle started me with a full coverage face and amazing conturing. Ashunta finished off the look by doing a stunning and unusual jewel tone smokey eye. Romance On The Harbor

If you're reading this post, most likely you read yesterday's article about my wedding anniversary experience on a brunch cruise with HowAboutWe. If not, check it out here. 

For the outfit, I knew I wanted to wear something sophisticated + appropriate for brunch and at the same time comfortable. One of my favorite parts about the outfit is this OVI peachy blazer, without it everything would've fallen apart. I wore this blazer last year in a more casual way (view here). The combination of the red and white shoes are the perfect component to making this outfit pop. I added bold lips and a statement necklace to the mix because 'why not' it's the Holidays and nothing says Holidays like pearls and red lips. I went with a neutral Botkier bag and dark jeans because I already had a lot going on with the lip, bright Michael Kors top and funky Kandee shoes. The bag and jeans tone everything down to make the look just right for a romantic Sunday brunch date.

Everything Is Possible If You Believe!

Today is my two year anniversary for my blog (blogaversary). I am very happy and proud of myself for making it this far (not many do). It's really hard to stick to something through thick and thin when you have a busy life and kids to take care of. I have the most supportive family + readers and for that I am thankful.  If you take a look back at my old posts you will see how far I've come. The failures and success of the past have been my determination, perseverance and strength. I'm known to be a perfectionist and overachiever because I never give up and when (and if) I fall, I get up and go harder for my dreams. I set high standards and surreal goals to prove that everything is possible. I have overcome many challenges and will continue to do so to serve as an inspiration to other young women. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU! Hoy es mi segundo aniversario de mi blog (blogaversary). Estoy muy feliz y orgulloso de mí misma por haber llegado tan lejos (no muchos lo hacen). Es realmente difícil de seguir a algo contra viento y marea cuando tienes una vida muy ocupada y niños que cuidar. Tengo la familia + lectores que me brindan mucho apoyo y por eso estoy agradecida. Si usted toma una mirada retrospectiva a mis viejos mensajes verás lo lejos que he llegado. Los fracasos y éxitos del pasado han sido mi determinación, perseverancia y fortaleza. Soy conocido por ser un perfeccionista y mérito adicional, porque nunca me doy por vencida y cuando (y si) me caigo, me levanto y voy más rapido por mis sueños. Pongo altos estándares y objetivos surrealistas para demostrar que todo es posible. Yo he vencido muchos retos y voy a seguir haciéndolo para servir de inspiración a otras mujeres jóvenes. Stop And Reload

This past weekend was fantastic! & by 'fantastic' I mean AMAZING! Yesterday my husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary on an incredible and unforgettable brunch cruise (i'll be doing a post on that soon). The night before, we were driving all over the city. At the end of the day we stopped for gas and shot what I was wearing through our busy day. Cashmere sweaters have become my favorite this season. They are the coziest sweaters everrr and turnout very chic when paired with the right pieces. In other news, my birthday is this weekend (the 15th) and I'm super excited to spend it with my friends and family.

Este fin de semana pasado fue increíble! Mi marido y yo nos juntamo con un par de nuestros amigos para charlar sobre nuevas colaboraciones. Mi marido y yo también celebramos nuestro aniversario de bodas ayer en un increíble e inolvidable crucero (voy a hablar de esto muy pronto). Con todo lo que conducimos en la ciudad, tuvimos que parar a comprar gas y tomamos unas cuantas fotos. Tengo algunos proyectos interesantes por delante y no puedo esperar para compartirlos con ustedes. Mi cumpleaños es este fin de semana (el 15) y estoy súper emocionada de pasarla con mis amigos y familia.

Aromatic Tea + Pakistani Sweets

I have always liked sweets after a meal. Without it, the meal isn't satisfying or complete and after meeting my husband I got into the habit of drinking tea after every meal as well. You can say drinking black tea with milk is kindoff 'an Asian tradition'. Now kashmiri tea (something new to me) is a Pakistani type of tea made with tea leaves, milk, almonds, pistachios and cardamon. It pairs well with traditional pakistani sweets like jalebi and gulab jamun. The way pakistanis eat is very heavily. Including meats and rices filled with aromatic spices. This is surely enough incorporated to the teas they drink too. In fact, I wouldn't be able to think of a better way to end a heavy paki meal than with kashmiri tea. The sweets are literally sugar and water. Therefor, having the light perfumed kashmiri tea serves as a great balance to your unforgettable food coma.

Comfort

I couldn't wait for New Years to start a new resolution. I decided to start being more positive today because -"A positive mind = a positive life". I truly believe that with my heart and soul. If you follow me on instagram or on Facebook you would know that last week I had an awesome shoot with Cosmopolitan for Latinas. I cannot wait for the issue to hit stands to share the amazing images taken by Peter Rosa. The month of December is a very magical month for me. It involves my blogaversary + birthday + wedding anniversary (which is today). I remember with detail the first time my husband and I met. Now we have a home + a beautiful family and we have each other. All that matters = happiness. 

For todays look I decided to dress down for a doctors appointment. Finally wearing my turtleneck cashmere sweater that I bought at my local vintage shop. Paired it with this fashionable quilted arms coat from CoffeeShop and comfy boots via Infinity Shoes. I added pops of pink with this necklace from Sparkle and Sophistication and Aimee Kestenberg bag.
