Here's a Glimpse
Yesterday morning the screen on my phone cracked and I wasn't able to use it the entire day. After stomping, kicking and crying I decided to take the opportunity to use my DSLR instead. The good thing is that I let my eyes rest for a day (which felt really good) and I got a new phone today.
With my in-laws being gone for months now it's only natural that we start missing their cooking. It was an Indian/bengali night last night at my house. I made beef curry with potatoes, daal and a twist to the boring white rice; lavender rice. Hope you enjoyed this luscious and pretty random post.

In Uniform
Plaid is one of those things that immediately say school to me. No, not because of Gossip Girl but because, well, ok! maybe. Apart from being a naturally preppy combination Plaid should be a girls best friend. There's something about plaid that gives a women a nice shape. Maybe it's because of the lines? But it hasn't been scientifically proven yet. I know many of you used to fold the top of skirt to make it shorter, yeah, I am talking to you. But those days should be way behind now. Despite me being 5''2 I love the length this skirt gives me. You know, the perfect length? Not too sexy nor too boring, just right.
It is a bit intimidating to wear something like this, I get it. You don't want to feel like you are wearing a costume or trying too hard to look like a school girl. Minimal is key. Don't try, just wear it.
No intente, simplemente use.

I Love NY
A little leather before Fall isn't as bad as it sounds. Believe me!
I paired this skirt with this casual tee shirt from Piccolini that can be dressed up or dressed down.
Throwing on a blazer will always give you a sense of elegance no matter what you are wearing, mainly long blazers like this one. Naturally you can't forget the heels!
Hope you have a good tuesday. Thanks for reading!

Barry's Bootcamp | Love Rehab
Monday mornings are the perfect time to get inspired with workouts, healthy eating and new books to read. Last week I attended the unique celebration of Jo Piazza new book “Love Rehab: A Novel in 12 Steps”. As I mentioned on my Instgram, what better way to get in the best shape of my life than by working out with trainer Joey Gonzalez at Barry's Bootcamp to the best breakup songs of all time.
I won't tell you what the book is about because I would hate to be a spoiler, but, I will give you the blurb.
"Sophie isn't dealing with her breakup well. Dumped by her boyfriend, Eric, for his sexting, D-cupped, young floozy McSecretary, Sophie leaves Manhattan and lands back in her hometown, crushed and pajama-clad, blaming herself and begging her ex for a second chance.
But when her best friend, Anne, gets in trouble for driving drunk and is forced to go to an Alcohol Anonymous meeting, something clicks in Sophie's strung-out mind. Women need love rehab.
If you start it, they will come. When she opens up her home to the obsessed and lovelorn, Sophie finds a way to help women out there who have overdosed on the wrong men- and saves herself in the process."
As a married women, this is an exciting, very girly and gossipy novel. Different from what I'm used to reading but highly entertaining.
It was such a pleasure meeting and getting to share an evening with Jo Piazza who is the executive news director of In Touch Weekly and Life & Style Weekly.
I got the chance to work with Joey Gonzalez, a phenomenal trainer at Barry's Bootcamp. We were a group of 15-18 people and I felt like it was a one-on-one class. This Mr. Here is a badass trainer! I was complaining at how intense the workout was and didn't realize how good it felt the next day. I love working out, I do it daily, but this was on another level of workout [in a good way of course]. It was my first time here but not my last. I have never worked this hard nor sweat this much in my life, ok, I won't go into further details.
We all know that music makes you move. In this case it gets you in the mood to give it your all when working out, you know what I mean? The concept of the celebration of the book, the breakup songs and the workouts really made a fantastic combination.
Thank you Jo Pizza, Joey Gonzalez and Barry's Bootcamp for allowing me to be a part of this. Thumbs up to all the participants for doing an incredible job [believe me, it's not as easy as it looks].

How To Wear A Fedora Hat
Black and White lines Again I'm going with a pop of color for this Back-to-school look. She's channeling her Dorothy Gale with the two pigtail braids which adds a young and very innocent affect to the outfit. Remember 'Braids are In'! Pops of color is all the rave, as I mentioned before. When it comes to kids, less is more when accessorizing. This bold Fedora hat looks fantastic on young boys and girls. The best way of pairing it is by letting the hat be the main focus but still adding a little bit of the color thought the outfit. It is a phenomenal way to accessorize without over doing it.
On the bottom I wanted to go with a soft yet solid finish. I added these Cherokee pants which are a great alternative for boring blue denim jeans. On the lowest point, I added these very comfy/modern and ultimately timeless flats that are good all year round.

I'm a Little Teapot
Lemon Loves Lime With New York having such nice weather lately I decided to pair this lovely dress from Lemon Love Lime's Fall 2013 collection [browse HERE] with some funky shoes [similar HERE]. Unfortunately my daughter has a rule of only wearing black shoes. To say we have bought the same style of shoe 3 times since she turned 1. Funny isn't it? I think it worked for the better because the black adds a great balance to the whole look. I'm really excited to pair this dress with some white or light pink tights and high top boots for winter. My daughter and I love the knit and ruffle detail on this dress. You know your child feels good and comfortable when you catch them twirling around constantly.
The one thing you can do to girls that you can't do to boys is accessorize the hair. I love this headpiece that I made for my daughter at the DIY DreamDry event last week. It's the perfect touch for cute little girls:)

Mixing Prints
Fashion Referee I know this isn't the exact meaning of 'mixing prints' but it is more than that. Mixing colors, prints and stripes all in one. I decided to pair this very unique top from Channa Karasi with boxers (of course). The black and white stripes on the top and the navy blue stripes on the boxers are an unusual match that somehow work together wonderfully. I added the bright orange lip to match my heels and the details on the top. I know this is a bit crazy and very different from what I usually do, but I love trying new things and exposing myself to different trends. This is just to show you that there are no rules in fashion.
